Course overview

Engineering Skills is a full-time course taught at Edinburgh College’s Midlothian campus. This course is designed to give you a broad understanding of engineering manufacturing systems and processes. You will study a range of practical units which will develop your practical skills and build your knowledge of the engineering industry.

You will learn basic engineering processes and maintenance by working on a range of engineering systems such as fitting using hand skills; fabrication; manufacturing; project design and much more.

This course supports progression into other engineering studies which can lead to a university degree, training or employment. You will be provided with information to give you an insight into engineering occupations such as mechanical, fabrication, automotive, aeronautical, electrical and electronic, marine and control. Once you have completed this course, you can use your studies to help you choose which career path within the engineering industry you wish to pursue.

The course is taught by teachers with industry experience using the latest industry technologies and will give you an insight into the working environment of an engineer.
